Cross Country Writing

Cross Country Writing:

On Thursday 27th August , Saint Pius X had cross country.
We had cross country after lunch time, during lunch time the Geckos went inside the hall for to practise our chant. But at the same time Tuis were there, so we decided we will go in the hall & they will go in the kitchen.

I was panicking because the time was ticking & not that much work has been done, I was nervous because we won’t be able to learn our chants in time. Suddenly the bell rang, everyone lined up outside in their house colours. Seeing them in their house colours are cool, you can tell which is which & it's bright. We walked down the hill and we went and sat down next to SDA church. When we went down we all sat down in our house colours.

Next up was the Room 4 & 3’s. We were all cheering for them, it was cool watching them run. Mr. Gaffney was taking them so they know where to run or else they will be lost. “On your marks, get set go!” Said Manu.
When the little kids were running, Mr. Slade called out “ Year 7 and 8’s”
I was nervous & I had butterflies in my stomach. Everyone was behind the line I could just imagine me falling straight away. “On your marks, get set go” said Manu.

I raced in the front, I was stucked at the back. When we went passed the rocks, I started running in the front, I saw supporters cheering and screaming “ Go Geckos” I smiled back, I had a stitch straight away.
I didn’t feel like stopping so I keep on running, went passed Mrs. Middleton near the alleyway, my throat was dry and I needed some water.
While I was running, I saw Claudia she had a asthma attack, I wanted to help but I needed to run, so I called out to Joseph for help.

I didn’t feel like running but I had to keep on going. When we came down the hill on the last round, I heard the kids cheering I was relieved that I have finally reached the finish line. At the end of the day we sang our chant.
Kiwis and Tuis and Keas chant was great. As we sang our song we were a bit shy and unorganized. I was embarrassed because we didn’t know what to sang.

When we finished our chant, the teachers add up the points and they announced the winner, “The winner is Kiwis” said Mr. Coakley. I was so happy because they did deserved it and it is there first time on the shield. Even though we came third but atleast we had fun.

Trip to Kelly Tarlton

The weather was 50/50, suddenly it was rainy and then it stopped.
But the exciting thing was that the whole school had a school trip to Kelly Tarltons!
How fun is that? I’ve always wanted to go and look at the sea creatures, today we all had the chance to go and seek new things about sea animal & sea life. Everything was organized and we were ready to go.

On the way there I was thinking about the sea creature that I don’t know about?
Maybe there aren’t any new sea creatures? Maybe they don’t have all of the sea creatures. Too many questions & the time is ticking. I was so excited to go to Kelly tarltons like no words can explain how I was excited to be there. Everyone was happy and pleased that we have reached Kelly Tarltons.

Seeing Scott's hut was pretty cool, looking at all those things was kinda weird even though it was only one person. There were a lot of things didn’t looked like one person was living in the hut but like 5 people because of seeing the stuffs inside. There were bunks beds, television, teapots, shovel and other equipments that he survived with in Antarctica. Our first creature that we saw was the Penguins. There were a lot of Penguins & I also saw King fish they looked quite similar to the penguins but they were hairy.

Seeing the penguins walking and sleeping was cute, when we were walking there were some hints hanging on the wall, I was surprised looking at the first hint it said “ There are only 17 species of Penguins in this world today”. I didn’t count the penguins because we had to go. I even saw the Giant squid!! It was disgusting looking at. I even saw Jellyfish, I thought that they never existed until I saw them with my own two eyes.

Later on we went inside this room “ Education room”? There was a staff there, she presented to us about sea animals & other creatures that got sick.  I’ve learnt a lot about sea creatures that she told us about, some of them was good and some of them was sad news. I think everyone did learn something from Kelly tarlton's & the presentation that she presented. Later on we saw some sea horses, they were kinda creepy, they were skinny & the funny thing is that the father gives birth to the child instead of the mother seahorse. Like it's kinda weird, because us humans it's a female that gives birth.

Seeing the seahorses appearance was cool too, they have no scales either stomach.
We also saw Sea dragon they kinda looked like seahorses but they were different I don’t know what are the difference between them. After the presentation we had a chance to touch 4 incredible things that I’ve never touched in my whole life. Which was Shark skin!, dry dead seahorses, Megalodon the jaws & shark egg! Touching them was kinda weird the shark sin was pretty cool because I’ve always wanted to touch a sea creature like the actually skin & I did get the chance.

From time to time it was time for us to leave Kelly Tarltons, I didn't feel like leaving because I wanted to see more but we had to go. I enjoyed every single moment that happened at Kelly Tarltons. Even watching the stingrays, they are also one of the magnificent creatures that I think is cool. They can tell if your an new staff when you're feeding them they will play with you and splash around you, they can also tell your heartbeats if you're scared or not.

Sean Shark Wek

Wednesday 13th August 2015
Sean is that type of kid who wants to save the sharks.
He is going to have a better future.
I think what Sean is trying to say is to stop cutting the shark's fin.
Finning is when you cut the shark's fin and you throw the shark's body in the sea so it can die.
Then the shark won’t be able to swim because they can only swim with their fins.

Rainbow Fish

06/08/15  :  The Rainbow Fish
Rainbow Fish:
I think that Rainbow fish took the right decision to share his scales among his friends, even though he was happy with his scales but you always needs to remember to think about others before yourself.
Even though Rainbow Fish was proud with the way he looks, but he gave them to his friends and he was still happy.

Reasons:
  1. Rainbow fish took the right decision to help his friends.
  2. He had the virtue of Love, he felt sorry for his friends, so he decided to share what he has to make his friends happy.
  3. Rainbow fish choose that no matter how he looks he should at least share what is important to him.

Conclusion:

Rainbow fish did a good thing by giving some of his scales away. Not only he made his friends felt good, but also felt good too. Sometimes it not all about having a beautiful body, it's about sharing and giving it to others and also having a good personality.
